Stained or Discoloured Teeth
Smoking, red wine, tea and coffee all take their
toll on teeth, leaving stains that become more
obvious over the years. Getting older also makes
its mark, as teeth gradually darken with age.
Tooth whitening can help remove those tell-tale
signs of ageing, lightening your teeth and removing
stains, leaving you with a sparkling, rejuvenated
smile.

Chips,Cracks and Gaps
Teeth can often suffer minor damage such as small chips or surface cracks, which can mar the way your smile looks. These can easily be disguised, either by bonding or veneers.
Many people have small gaps between their front teeth. If your gap bothers you, we can easily fill or disguise it using bonding or veneers.
|
| Missing Teeth
Whether you have just one tooth missing, a few or virtually all of them, we can help you to get your smile back. Dentures are a common option, as are dental bridges, where a false tooth or teeth are permanently anchored to neighbouring teeth. Dental implants are soaring in popularity because they are so strong, realistic and permanent. As well as providing an excellent method of replacing teeth, they can also provide strong foundations for dentures, making them much more comfortable and easy to wear.

| Examination
you will receive more than 'just a check up'. Our dental team will perform a thorough and comprehensive examination.
We want to make sure that you receive the best
that modern preventive dental care has to offer.
Healthy gums and teeth should be attainable for
most people, so it's really important that you
visit your dentist regularly. Regular visits mean
your dentist can monitor your oral health effectively,
log any changes, and give you advice on how to
prevent problems in the future.
|
| Hygienist Treatment
Our hygienist plays a vital role in helping you to keep your teeth and gums in good condition.
Seeing the hygienist regularly helps you to take the best possible care of your teeth and gums so that you can avoid problems caused by decay and gum disease. Gum disease usually goes unnoticed by sufferers until the later stages, but it is the biggest cause of tooth loss in adults.
During your visit our hygienist will clean your teeth professionally, removing any plaque (a layer of sticky bacteria which causes gum disease). Your teeth will then be polished - this helps to prevent further plaque from sticking to them, as well as helping them to look and feel fresh and clean. The hygienist will also monitor the health of your gums and the effectiveness of your home oral healthcare routine, as well as advising you on the best way to care for your teeth.
For children whose permanent molars (back teeth)
have come through, our hygienist can also offer
fissure sealants. The top surface of molars often
has a lot of tiny fissures and gaps, which makes
them particularly prone to decay. Fissure sealants
are a very thin protective layer which is painted
onto the surface of the tooth, helping to prevent
decay. For more information, please ask - we'll
be happy to help.

| Fillings
Fillings are one of the most basic methods of restoring teeth. They do exactly what their name suggests - they fill a hole in the tooth that has been caused by decay, playing an important role in helping us to keep a tooth for many more years.
We are proud to say, at Iona Denatl Office, we
use use the most effective, modern filling materials. We
offer both the silver and the white filling options
to our patients. Unlike the more traditional grey
amalgam fillings, the white fillings look very
natural, so no-one will be able to tell you have
them.

| Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening is a great way of giving your smile a boost and helping you to look younger. stained or discoloured teeth can be whitened to give you a bright, white smile.
Having your teeth professionally whitened helps to erase staining and helps to reverse the natural darkening process, making your smile lighter and more attractive as well as helping to turn back the clock!
Many of our patients have their teeth whitened before a special occasion, such as a wedding, graduation ball, anniversary or summer holiday, or simply as a treat to themselves.

| Bonding
Bonding is used as a relatively simple method of disguising small defects such as chipped or crooked teeth or gaps between teeth.
This involves preparing your teeth with an etching
solution, and applying special composite resin
materials - very similar to those used for white
fillings - to your teeth. We shape the resin to
give a natural appearance and bond it into place,
leaving you with a new improved smile.
|
| Veneers
Veneers provide a wafer thin mask to hide discolouration
on teeth and close unsightly gaps with little
or no work being needed on the tooth itself.they
are adhered to the front of your teeth offer a
great way of transforming your smile with just
one treatmentVery minimal tooth preparation is
involved, and We take an impression, or mould,
of the area, which is then sent to our dental
laboratory so the veneers fit well and look and
feel natural.Once ready, the veneers are bonded
into place, becoming virtually part of your own
teeth and giving you a beautiful, natural-looking
smile.

Root Canal Therapy(RCT)
A root canal treatment is necessary when decay or injury has infected the blood or nerve supply of the tooth, (also known as the pulp). If the pulp becomes infected this can lead to an abscess forming which can be very painful.
If the RCT is not carried out, the infection will lead to damage around the bone of the tooth spread and the tooth may need to be removed.
The aim is to remove all the affected tissue from
within the pulp chamber. The root is then cleaned
and filled to prevent any further infection occuring.
|
Crowns
Crowns also known as caps are made according to the individuals needs, they will usually fit over your original teeth to disguise your worn out, broken or crooked teeth, helping to strengthen it and making it look like a whole, natural tooth once more. creating a smile anyone would be proud
Our crowns are created by experienced craftsmen working in a dental laboratory, who use natural-looking ceramic to produce a crown which is strong, long lasting and virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Bridges
When a tooth or teeth are lost and not replaced, your teeth can drift from their correct position. This drifting can cause many undesirable consequences such as jaw pain and headaches from malocclusion (a bad bite alignment). Drifting of teeth can make certain areas more susceptible to decay. Problems with the supporting structures of your teeth (gum and bone) can arise from the shifting of teeth as they try to fill a vacant area.
In order to prevent the drifting of teeth, a fixed bridge may be recommended. This will return your masticatory (chewing) system to a full complement of teeth. The teeth can then support each other and function beautifully together.
Bridges are a permanent and realistic looking way of filling a gap between teeth caused by one or more missing teeth.A bridge consists of a false tooth which is held in place by the neighboring teeth-one on each side. Once the bridge is in place it looks like your natural teeth. The bridge is fixed permanently to your teeth so it becomes a part of your natural dentition.

Dentures
Dentures are ideally suited to people with a number of missing teeth, or perhaps those on a limited budget.Patients with a number of missing teeth which cannot be replaced in any other way can opt to have dental implants to hold them in place. This makes the dentures far more secure, and makes it easier to eat and speak with them in place.
|
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a realistic, strong and permanent way of replacing missing teeth. They can be used to replace a single tooth or a number of teeth, and can also be used as a much more comfortable and convenient method of keeping dentures in place.
Implants are effectively threaded screws made of titanium, a metal which the body does not recognise as "foreign". This allows for the bone into which the implant is placed to heal around the implant and become united with it. This creates a strong and permanent support for replacement teeth, which are hand-made by a specialist technician in a dental laboratory and specifically shaped and coloured to provide a perfect match to your other teeth.
